RSAF Medi-Q Project
A mobile queuing solution for the RSAF's medical centres, allowing patients to book and take queue numbers ahead of time.
During my 2 years of National Service, I was approached by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Command Chief, who tasked me and a fellow serviceman to design a mobile app for the medical centres that would allow users to get queue numbers without having to physically turn up at the medical centre and wait their turn.
The system consists of two different mobile apps:
- The “Medi-Q” application, that would run on user’s smartphones and enable them to take queue numbers.
- A “Q-Manager” application that runs on tablets located in the Medical Centre as well as in the Medical Officer’s consultation rooms, to allow them to manage queue numbers as users come in and out of the centre.
Both applications were developed for cross-platform compatibility using Xamarin Forms, which has since been merged into what is now known as the .NET Multi-platform App UI (MAUI).
The project has since been handed over to the RSAF’s innovation arm and was last beginning trials at select airbases when I completed my 2 years of service, and as recognition for my efforts, I received the Serviceman of the Month award and coins from both Command Chiefs of the Air Force and Participation Command.
